Tryon's Palace was completed in 1770. The palace was named after its governer which was Tryon. John Hawk created the Tryon's Palace. But many people throughout the colony disliked the palace. Tryon moved into the house in 1770 and only stayed there for a couple of years. After the battle of Alamace, Tryon was named governer of New York. Then he moved and went to live in Manhattan. After the War of Independence, the first north carolinian governer worked and lived in the palace.

Governer Tryon, assuming that the Regulators would rise again gathered a militia. Tryon ordered the regulators to move from AlamanceCreek and when they didnt, he ordered his militia to shoot. At least 20 were killed and another 150 were wounded. He executed every regulator even befor the battle. The day before the battle he hung out with another tribe.
